Bronies The Extremely Unexpected Review: Part 1

For some reason I had never previously seen the documentary, aptly named Bronies: The Extremely Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony. I remember back before the first BUCK in 2012 hearing about John De Lancie's fondness of our community. It was pretty uplifting that such a notable actor had really expressed his interest in something as seemly obscure as male fans of My Little Pony. This was when he went on to quickly announce that he was working with a brony owned film company to create a Documentary all about our 'little' subculture. The response was ecstatic in the US,  but interest didn't really come to the UK until De Lancie announced he was intending to come to our first ever Brony Convention, BUCK. The Kickstarter donation drive shot through the roof with UK bronies eager to get the Draconequus' VA to make an appearance. Sadly he couldn't make it but he did nicely leave us a lovely video message and of course, the film crew still managed to come and get some cracking footage of BUCK.

De Lancie's Brony Documentary Coming to DVD in the UK!

You all should remember De Lancie's documentary Bronies: The Extremely Unexpected Fans of My Little Pony. Well it's finally being released on DVD over here in the UK and is being distributed by Wienerworld, a London based company.

They are the exclusive distributors of the DVD in the UK and will be releasing it on the 14th April. The DVD can be pre-ordered for a special price over on the webpage found here.

Also, Wienerworld have been nice enough to offer us a few copies to give away in a competition! More information will be made available when we get our hands on the DVD, so watch this space for your chance to win! I'll also be writing a review in the coming weeks of the documentary, surprising enough I have yet to see it so this will be something new to me as well.

Darren McMullen's Outsiders (Nat Geo Series)

If you went to BUCK 2013 and quite possibly Manechester's pre-meet on the Friday you surely should know that a film crew were scooting around recording us for a documentary on interesting subcultures to be aired on National Geographic. They recorded at Manechester's pre-meet in the Waldorf, where Cheesey Burger did a fantastic interview, you won't be disappointed. I remember him talking quite in-depth about the awesome stuff this fandom has to offer, then the camera panned to me and probably broke or something. Red Cherry Productions looking for Bronies!

A student production company by the name of Red Cherry Productions are intending to produce a documentary on bronies and our culture. Obviously this is a student project, so their grades depend on it and that jazz, so it's more than likely that this documentary will show us in good light.
They're looking at making a 3 minute short that if approved will allow them to work on a 20-30 minute documentary that will be shown at a film festival.
