Manechester MCM Comic Con this weekend!

The much anticipated MCM Comic Con will be back in Manchester this Saturday and us lot at Manechester have a few things planned for you bronies!

On the Saturday during the convention we will be meeting at 1pm outside at the steps of the convention centre. We'll hang about, chat and chill until 2pm when everyone can head back into the con! Then at 5:30 til 6pm we'll be meeting at the same place to head off to the upstairs of the Waldorf, that has been privately hired out! There will be a £1 charge for entry. The party will last until midnight!

Then, on the Sunday there'll be a special Muffin Meet, meet at Picadilly Station's Star Bucks between 1pm and 2.

Equestria Girls in UK Cinema!

So, contrary to what news a lot of us had heard, we are in fact getting Equestria Girls in the cinema! Be it only Showcase cinemas and only in Nottingham and Leicester for one weekend. To mark this occasion we are holding a meet in Nottingham for the Saturday showing, on the 10th August.

Ok, I think this was a serious side effect of us Brits not getting much merch until this year. I remember back in the day at MCM the one piece of Pony merch you'd find would be badges. Hundreds and hundreds of pony badges, some just with cutiemarks and even some with full ponies on. Some of the best i've seen would have to be the metal pins from PinFilly. Totally making an order soon! Didn't know they were so cheap.

Crystal Fair Competition - Ponify Finland!

So for those of you who don't know Finland are holding a convention next year called the Crystal Fair. They're holding a competition since the convention is in a years time. Your job is to Ponify Finland. There are three parts to this competition all lasting three months each. The first being the Digital art challenge, after three months, on the 4th October the next challenge will be announced! Winners will receive a t-shirt and their artwork will be sold in the charity auction at the convention.

Two years of Google+!

You might be wondering why i'm posting about a social network celebrating it's second anniversary. Well, Google+ defined so much of what being a brony meant for me I couldn't not mention this. I remember getting my invite to join the beta back in 2011, it was few months after I first watched FiM, I started with Feeling Pinkie Keen for some reason. As it turns out I wasn't the only brony joining the beta! There were loads of us! We all quickly got to grips with the new social network, fell in love and then Pony+ was born! Back then it was a community of mutually circled bronies. We certainty had fun building the community, with it there were tons of silly memes, trolls and truly memorable personalities. I've seen so many artists start out from just a few sketches and thanks to the hugely supportive community have had the courage to continue and become something really quite amazing. 

So, not just a thank you to Google but a thank you to everyone who's been a part of Pony+, you've made these past two years amazing! Let's hope we can have another good two years ahead of us!

Equestria Girls Review [Spoilers]

It's been over a week now since Equestria Girls hit the big screens and we've all been patiently waiting for our American counterparts to metal gear their way into a cinema and record without getting punched by a soccer mum. For those of you wondering if we're getting an official release here in the UK, we're definitely not, Hasbro has confirmed this.

After running around the house trying to find snacks and being disappointed because we only had a ridiculous amount of oranges in, I sat down and began watching. For those who don't want any spoilers don't join us after the break!

Top 10 Reasons to go to BUCK!

It's almost upon us! The thrilling sequel, the second coming, the empire strikes back or as everyone else knows it, BUCK 2013! In just over two months Bridge Water Hall in Manchester will be opening their doors to the brony fandom for a weekend of awesome. As i've been waiting for this since last year's convention ended and I'm currently dead excited I thought it only fitting to jot up some of the best reasons to attend.

For a quick sort of insight into what you can expect from these, I intend to explore things that EQD may have missed or to show them from a different prospective. BronyDays chairman Q&A!

So, for you guys who just can't get enough pony here in the UK how about attending BronyDays, the French Brony convention to be held in October this year!

Response to the fandom's negativity

I didn't really want to write about this.. nor am I even really compelled to do so either. I just felt it might be of some interest for some people, or at least something to keep me entertained during this train journey I have found myself on. Now, you all obviously must know by now that the Equestria Girls trailer has been released, if not, here it is again.

My opinions on this? As suggested in my previous post about EqG, I loved it. Looking just slightly deeper than what the trailer gives you there is definitely a pretty good overall story for the movie that relates to the show canon and mythology.

Equestria Girls Trailer!!!!!

Probably the best snap shot! I have to say.. I am speechless. It was pretty amazing! Seriously, there is nothing wrong with it, like at all. The human animation might not be as amazing as what we're used to, it's a little more on the lines of Littlest Pet shop, but the art is far higher quality than the promo shots!

Something interesting is the actual pony scenes were very very cinematic, so even if you dislike the whole highschool setting in the human world I think you'll definitely enjoy the beginning and closing scenes!

So I just opened tumblr for whatever reason and I noticed the MCM logo! To my surprise it was from the Buck: Legacy card game's blog. http://buck-card-game.tumblr.com/

They're having a table this year at the MCM London Comic Con! So be sure to check them out, apparently they'll be having some special gifts up for grabs!

Equestria Girls, we're kind of Magical!

So, the dreaded date June 16th is certainly around the corner. That date is in fact the release of MLP:FiM - Equestria Girls. Now for those who are keeping up to date with this should know that it's being released in US cinemas, though I'm not overly certain how many cinemas that'll be! I'm pretty sure it's mostly a straight to DVD release but we'll have to wait and see. I don't really want to have to watch it from a shaky recording on an iPhone, as that would totally suck. Hopefully we'll be seeing a DVD rip or it broadcast on the HUB not long after the release date. Now I know a lot of you aren't overly excited about this and yes I do agree the designs of the humanised ponies aren't fab but it really is a case of just giving it a go. I think a lot of us are a little disheartened by it as we haven't really had much news, there hasn't even been a trailer yet. The setting might be a little odd, Highschool wasn't all of our favourite times of our lives. However an interesting piece of info says that EVERYPONY has a human counterpart. This'll be interesting to see, though for all we know Celestia will be the head master of the school! If such is the case, Luna just has to be the uber cool science teacher with a passion for Astrometry or something equally bizarre.
